How is this medicine (Mobic) best taken?

  • In most cases, generic versions are considered equally effective as brand-name medications.
  • However, certain people, such as those in their third trimester of pregnancy or people with kidney problems, should avoid using them.
  • Avoid use of NSAIDs, including MOBIC,in pregnant women starting at 30 weeks of gestation (third trimester)see Use in Specific Populations (8.1).

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional. When used for severe or continuing arthritis, this medicine must be taken regularly as ordered by your doctor in order for it to help you. This medicine usually begins to work within one week, but in severe cases up to two weeks or even longer may pass before you begin to feel better. Non-Interchangeability with Other Formulations of Meloxicam

  • Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor, health care provider, or pharmacist first.
  • Meloxicam is used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by a breakdown of the lining of the joints) and rheumatoid arthritis (arthritis caused by swelling of the lining of the joints).
  • Both meloxicam and ibuprofen are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) for managing inflammation, arthritis, moderate pain, and more.
  • This is more likely to occur if you or your child have had a stomach ulcer in the past, if you smoke or drink alcohol regularly, if you are over 60 years of age, are in poor health, or are using certain other medicines (eg, steroids, blood thinner).
  • It is metabolized in the liver and excreted by the kidneys, and is available as a generic.

Patients with severe hepaticimpairment have not been adequately studied. Since meloxicam is significantlymetabolized in the liver and hepatotoxicity may occur, use meloxicamwith caution in patients with hepatic impairment see Warningsand Precautions (5.3) and ClinicalPharmacology (12.3). Therefore, MOBIC Suspension is not interchangeable with other formulations of oral meloxicam product even if the total milligram strength is the same.
